I’m not sure how good or bad I am at this. I think it would be useful to follow the procedure presented in this article and summarized in his description of focusing, and see whether I feel that I’m attaining better resolution about my emotions. Some interesting takeways The idea that we mostly notice emotions by paying attention to our bodies; this feels correct in a way, but I’m not sure if this is the only or primary way that I experience emotion.

I don’t yet fully understand what circling is, and I doubt that I will until I someday have the opportunity to try it out. But what I’ve taken away from reading these pages is that circling is an intentional shift in the focus of a group interaction. In a typical interaction with someone, I have to conform to various expectations about what the interaction is meant to be about. In a way, these expectations can be a bit of a straight-jacket, narrowly constraining the shape of the interaction and what is in-bounds for it to explore.
